Peer I and The Haven Outpatient Therapeutic Community (OTC) is the coed outpatient, continuing care component for clients completing The Haven and Peer I residential programs. OTC provides gender specific services to this coed population. OTC is licensed by the Colorado Department of Human Services, Office of Behavioral Health (OBH), and is contracted by the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice as a Community Corrections Non Residential Program. Clients are referred to Peer I and The Haven from the criminal justice system, a direct judicial sentence, Signal Behavioral Health or from a variety of non-criminal justice agencies.

Position Summary:

This is an entry level position that will offer an opportunity for a person to learn a variety of tasks and skills related to the substance abuse field. This position will utilize an electronic medical record system to provide, monitor and document various services, document them in referral databases and complete any necessary documentation. In addition, this position will be involved in the admission process of new clients, learning a variety of assessment tools and the development of treatment plans. The position will be eligible to attend a variety of free trainings for these assessments as well as classes for obtaining CAC I and CAC II. The position will assist with completing other job functions required to meet Division of Criminal Justice and Department of Corrections Standards. The driving involved in this position would involve driving clients in state vans to activities, appointments or in completing other program related duties. This position will complete 45 day audit on charts for all new admissions, discharge audits on all discharge clients, as well as periodic audits on clients currently in the program, the periodic audits time frames are actually being assessed but will probably be every six months for each client.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is $24,612 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess a GED or High School Diploma.
  • One year of experience appropriate to the work assignment.


Conditions of Employment:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado Driver's License
  • Must agree to fingerprinting and criminal background check. Required background checks include a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) AND the Central Registry of Child Protection (Trails).
  • Subject to pre-employment, post-accident or incident or reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing per UCD Addiction Research and Treatment Services Department Policies.
  • In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), ARTS cannot employ individuals (who may have contact with residents) who have (1) engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other Institution (as defined in 42 U.S. C. § 1997); (2) been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or (3) been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in (1-3) of this section. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possess a Certified Addiction Counselor I (CAC I) certification, Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, counseling psychology or a related field.
  • Experience working in a Therapeutic Community
  • Experience working in a substance abuse treatment program with adult clients
  • Experience working with offender population
  • Experience working with Community Corrections/Department of Corrections clientele
  • Experience documenting behavior according to established policies
  • Experience with behavior modification techniques
  • Experience observing, collecting and processing urine samples
  • Experience using an Electronic Medical Record

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn software programs
