Duties: The Associate Director assists the Associate Dean of the College/Director of Academic Affairs in providing oversight of the undergraduate curriculum through support of various faculty committees charged with the review of major programs, components of the general education curriculum, and individual courses and of the policies that shape students' engagement with the faculty in the various academic programs of the College. Responsibilities include: working alongside chairs of several faculty committees responsible for oversight of the undergraduate curriculum; orienting members, organizing agendas, gathering necessary information, and reporting decisions; assisting in the direction of assessment of undergraduate academic programs (majors and components of the general education curriculum) of the School; serving as liaison from College to the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships in relation to its function of coordinating research and internship opportunities for College students; serving as liaison to some of the other schools at Penn offering undergraduate majors in the College.

Qualifications: Ph.D. required in an arts and sciences discipline

Academic administrative experience showing growth in responsibilities commensurate with developing capabilities and effectiveness (required)

Scholarly and teaching experience beyond Ph.D. desirable

Understanding faculty culture at an R1 university (required)

Superior communication skills: clear, logical, and persuasive writing in contexts ranging from simple emails to extended reports and proposals; clear, logical, and persuasive speaking in contexts ranging from one-on-one conversations with faculty and other administrators to small groups to formal committee meetings (required)

Strong organizational skills (required)
