Placement Range: $48,400 - $54,000

General Description: The Energy Manager works under the direction of the Executive Director of Facilities Management as assigned, to establish accountability for energy consumption at every level on campus. The Energy Manager is responsible for developing and monitoring the OCCC Energy Conservation Program as approved pursuant to OCCC Board of Regents policy governance and the OCCC President's guidelines for the purpose of reducing utility consumption. Basic areas of responsibility include: administration and record keeping accountability, reporting, program implementation, promoting campus employee involvement, and validating the building automation system compliance to the Energy Conservation Program guidelines and best practices. The candidate must have an independent work ethic, good judgement capabilities, have the ability to maintain positive public relations, and must be persuasive. The candidate must be computer literate, be able to interpret technical data, and demonstrate an ability to communicate with technical and non-technical individuals.

Minimum Education/Experience: The qualified applicant will possess a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification OR have the prerequisites required to sit for and pass the exam for the CEM within one (1) year of hire. To obtain the certification within the one (1) year required time frame individuals must meet one (1) of the following: Four (4) year degree in engineering or architecture OR Professional Engineer or Registered Architect AND three plus (3+) years of experience in energy engineering or energy management. OR Four (4) year degree in technology, environmental science, physics, or earth science AND four plus (4+) years of experience in energy engineering or energy management. (Applicants meeting the minimum requirement via this option must attach transcript conferring required degree.) OR Four (4) year degree in business (or related field) AND five plus (5+) years of experience in energy engineering or energy management. (Applicants meeting the minimum requirement via this option must attach transcript conferring required degree.) OR Two (2) year energy management associate's degree AND six plus (6+) years of experience in energy engineering or energy management. (Applicants meeting the minimum requirement via this option must attach transcript conferring required degree.) OR Two (2) year technical associate's degree AND eight plus (8+) years of experience in energy engineering or energy management. (Applicants meeting the minimum requirement via this option must attach transcript conferring required degree.) OR 10+ years of experience in energy engineering or energy management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Independent work ethic. Exercise of good judgement in implementation of program. Ability to maintain favorable public relations. Ability to analyze and interpret technical data and communicate it to non-technical individuals. Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of interpersonal skills both verbal and written and be able to communicate and work effectively with college staff, faculty, community members, vendors, and state agency staff. Possess strong communication, persuasive, and diplomatic skills. Proficiency in standard desk top applications, including Microsoft Office Suite of products. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
