Financial Aid Coordinator - Compliance and Regulations
Coordinator is responsible for compliance and regulatory issues for all areas of Financial Aid Office. Research and provide answers to difficult questions encountered by staff in the review process. Assist step-by-step with staff when processing confusing or particularly difficult files. Maintain and update the policy and procedure manual for financial aid tasks as determined or implemented by each supervisor. Keep them updated. Research and provide answers to regulatory issues, concerns, updates and changes. Review a percentage of files monthly to see that work is accurate and consistent and respond to staff about discrepancies. This includes working with Accounting, Processing, Advising staff and supervisors. Coordinate training of new staff and continuing staff in quality assurance and regulatory issues. Maintain and update the consumer information page and ensure all notifications are sent properly. Review data provided by students on incoming documents. Perform data entry functions associated with verification of student data. Packaging/funding of student awards, and creation/certification of loans to the banks. Process computer generated reports.
- Ability to make judgments and decisions based on experience with federal processes
- Strong interpersonal communication skills required with an emphasis on problem solving and the ability to advise and make recommendations in an effective manner required
- Bachelor's degree required
- 2 years or more of higher education experience required, preferably in financial aid.
