Medicine - Oncology
This position needs to function independently on behalf of the Divisionof Medical Oncology withinthe matrixed organizational structures of both the Duke CancerInstitute and Duke RaleighHospital. Has accountability to the Division Administrator for MedicalOncology, as well as theMedical Director, Administrative Director and Clinical OperationsDirector for Wake CountyOncology under the DCI umbrella.# Coordinate a variety of identified projects and clinicaladministrative activities relatedto strategy and operational objectives. Coordinate and participate inmeetings with facultymembers and administrative leadership to determine objectives of theprogram and/or center andto identify internal and external resources available to meet thoseobjectives. Assist with thedevelopment and implementation of program protocols, procedures, andoperating policies. # 20%# Conduct analysis to inform decision-making on clinical operationsand/or complianceissues in accordance with applicable precedents and policies. # 15%# Analyze access,capacity and utilization reports and records regarding the clinicalpractice and prepare reports andsummaries. # 15%# Identify opportunities for system improvement and/or standardization;documentinefficiencies or gaps in existing processes and recommend specific andinnovative changes toaffect improved efficiencies; perform data collection and analysis toassess process performance. #10%# Assists clinical and administrative leadership with troubleshootingand facilitates thesupport of effective, efficient patient care delivery based onapplicable standards, regulations andindustry best practices. # 5%# Identification and support of resolution of systems related issuesthat impede clinicianeffectiveness/productivity (i.e. EPIC/Maestro). # 5%# New faculty and provider onboarding # serve as liaison for statelicensure,credentialing, billing numbers, space/staff/resource assignment;Visacoordination; ref DMRonboarding checklist. Requires coordination with PDC Associate Directorfor PhysicianIntegration/Onboarding, PDC Regional Administrator, AdministrativeDirector and ClinicalOperations Director. # 5%# Track and report physician productivity, partner with nursing andadministration tomaximize efficiency of session completion and leave time. # 5%# Perform other related dutiesincidental to the work described herein Supervision of Staff Assistants- 20%1. Interview, select and train staff admins.2. Evaluation of staff performance in delivery of administrativesupport for providers.3. Precept and coach staff admins to understand and deliver goodcustomer service andconsistent performance.4. Evaluation of staff assistant productivity and coaching/feedback toachieveproductivity expectations (e.g. meeting set up, providercalendars,call/email triage, faxing, patientmedical records, etc.)5. Identification and resolution of systems related issues that impedeeffectiveness/productivity in the duties of staff assistants.6. Monitor and supportcontinuously improvement of staff admin knowledge, skill andeffectiveness.7. Provide performance feedback and completion of annual staff adminevaluationsmeeting appropriate deadlines.8. Serves as a professional role model and mentor to staff byresponding positively tochange while supporting colleagues through the change process. Servesas a change agent tofacilitate communication and transition that supports the mission ofboth the Division and DCI.Performance demonstration examples1.
