Primary Function of Organization Unit: Campus Enterprises is NC State's lead division of retail and hospitality organizations: All Campus Card, University Dining, NC State Bookstores, University Trademark Licensing, The Lonnie Poole Golf Course, Talley Student Union, Witherspoon Student Center, Thompson Theatre, Price Music Center. Each unit shares a common goal: deliver quality and efficient services with dedicated financial support for student activity and scholarships. To satisfy the mission of a self-supporting, non-profit institutional bookstore as required by University administration and the University trustees, by providing all required academic needs such as textbooks, reference and trade books, essential student related computer equipment, supplies, emblematic items, and various convenience items as prescribed by state law. Additionally, it is required by the University trustees that the store pay for inventory and capital improvements out of receipts, and that residual funds be directed to the General Scholarship Fund on an annual basis.
Essential Job Duties: The primary purpose of the position is to provide customer service and support for the computer and technology product sales and service customer base. The position will function as the lead within the computer department. This position will be responsible for maintaining an organized work area and sales floor product presentation. This will include updated demos of all current products, sales floor stocking, end-cap merchandising, etc. Responsibilities also include assisting the buyer in the day to day activities of sales floor student/temp staff and their training. Evaluating staff's overall effectiveness in demonstrating key product knowledge and ensuring excellent customer service experience. Position works with the Computer Department Supervisor to create weekly staff work schedules and provides input on personnel decisions. Support responsibilities include: DOA (dead-on-arrival) determination, troubleshooting, and level I triage by bookstore staff members. Also included is the monitoring of our customer's day to day interactions with the WIC (Walk-In-Center - our on-campus repair center) to insure the in-take and post repair pick-up of systems repaired by the WIC. The position will assist the buyer in maintaining an accurate database of hardware sales and inventory.
Department Required Skills: *Experience in a customer service retail position *Proficient written and oral communication skills *Problem solver *Knowledge of technology language and concepts *Accuracy with a strict attention to detail *Ability to prioritize and work in a high pressure retail environment *Familiarity with Apple and PC OS *Experience with an Inventory Mgmt. system and online sales system *Adobe Sales certification, Apple Sales Certification - Professional level, Apple Authorized Service Technician and A+ Service Certifications within 6 months of hire date is required
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: *Supervisory or staff training experience is highly desirable ~ *A degree from a four year educational program in a technology related field is preferred *3-5 years of experience in technology sales thorough knowledge of collegiate retail preferably in a Technology store setting ~ *Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, computers (both PC and Apple), and technology products in general *Operating system and/or networking skills or experience are highly desirable.
Necessary Licenses and Certifications: Ability to obtain Apple Sales Certification, become an Apple Authorized Service Technician and A+ Certification is required within 6 months from hire date.
