Posting Summary:
Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Manager, IT Professional Development. This position reports to the Deputy CIO and serves a key role in the visioning, formation and administration of a wide range of training and professional development offerings for a complex and dynamic IT organization of approximately 250 employees. This position will work closely with the Deputy CIO and the IT leadership and management teams to identify central IT staff development needs, skills gaps, and professional and technical certification requirements in alignment with the technologies, projects and initiatives as highlighted in our CIO Project Portfolio and 1-3 year Roadmaps. This position will translate skill and professional development requirements into actionable and measurable steps that improve the organization's capabilities. Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree, or related experience, and significant experience with the creation and administration of professional development and training programs, preferably for IT organizations.

The Manager, IT Professional Development will perform the following functions for the staff in our central Information Technology Services organization:

Identify professional development, organizational development and training needs within Information Technology Services, as informed by the ITS leadership team, our CIO Roadmaps, special skills/training requirements associated with projects in the CIO Portfolio, feedback from Peer & Partner evaluations, and annual employee performance plans.
Facilitate the planning, development, procurement and evaluation of appropriate training courses and training materials, or other professional development offerings, to meet identified needs.
Develop methods, techniques and practices to facilitate the adoption and incorporation of new skills and capabilities into ITS projects and ongoing operations.
Ensure ongoing training and development programs to support desired professional and technical certifications (examples: ITIL Foundations certification, PMP certification, Lean training, Agile project management/approaches, technical certifications, others).
Develop and/or improve IT staff onboarding and orientation programs, new IT manager programs for IT employees hired or promoted into management roles, and other in-house programs.
Development relevant training materials for in-house IT professional development courses.
Collaborate with ITS leadership and management groups to make demonstrated progress toward our IT skills roadmaps, addressing identified training and development needs.
Consult with and assist ITS Leadership Team members on individualized staff development plans.
Help supervisors solve specific training needs, one-on-one or in groups.
Oversee and/or maintain database records of staff certifications, training course completion, etc.
Tracks spending related to ITS professional development and training.
Assist ITS leadership team with succession and organizational development.
