About The Unit: The University of Chicago Shared Services Office (SSO) is a customer service organization focused on providing user-friendly, high quality and cost effective administrative services to the university community. The SSO offers key procure-to-pay and human resource transaction services to customers through consistent processes and enabling technology.

Unit Job Summary: Under signature authorization for purchasing activities, the Contract Specialist supports business processes and operations through the procurement of goods and services at the most favorable terms, while staying in compliance with Federal and University procurement policies and procedures. Essential Functions: - Performs contract and purchase order review for the Procure-to-Pay Shared Services Organization - Assists the procurement team by ensuring that a unified, integrated, and cost-effective purchasing system is maintained - Coordinates reviews, tracks analyses, and awards contracts - Provides excellent service with a strong focus on customer satisfaction - Develops and maintains effective relationships with key stakeholders on campus

Unit Education: Required Education: - Associate's degree or higher in a business related field Desired Education: - Bachelor's degree in business, purchasing, materials management, or a related field - Completion of Certified Purchasing Management (CPM) courses

Unit Experience: Required Experience: - A minimum of one year of direct purchasing experience Desired Experience: - Familiarity with administrative processes, procedures, and systems within a university seeing - Previous experience in a higher education institution - Experience in contract writing preferred

Unit Job Function Competencies: - Knowledge of computer systems which provide summary analyses with respect to vendor and price evaluations - Strong attention to detail in documentation and transaction accuracy - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Ability to develop and maintain excellent customer service relationships - Excellent analytical skills - Demonstrated skill in negotiation
