Required Qualifications: (Evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral degree in a STEM or STEM education discipline in hand by June 1, 2017. Evidence of superior academic achievement (any combination of examples, such as grade point average, class rank, honors or other designation). Capacity to respond in pedagogically productive ways to the learning needs of students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
College or University teaching experience. Coursework or training in teaching or pedagogy, as evidenced by graduate-level credits, credit-bearing certificate(s), or non-credit certificate(s) from reputable organizations. Personal engagement with communities that are underrepresented in the academy and an ability to bring this asset to learning, teaching, and scholarship at the college and university level. Likelihood of using the diversity of human experience as an educational resource in teaching and scholarship
Brief Description of Duties:
This postdoctoral position is for a period of 2 years with potential for a 1-2 year extension. This position will work with the Director/Assistant Provost in the department of Center for Teaching, Innovation and Digital Education (C-TIDE) serving as a liaison to the STEM disciplines. We are looking for individual who is committed to a career in teaching and research at a college or university level.
- Educational Research: Work with faculty and staff mentors to develop and carry out an educational research agenda.
- Programs/Events: Develop and implement programming for faculty, graduate students and other postdoctoral fellows (which may include workshops, trainings, campus events, etc.).
- Assessment: Conduct assessment and evaluation activities of the incumbent’s work and the work of the Center.
- Innovations: Work with C-TIDE staff and postdoctoral fellows to identify, promote and educate faculty on leading-edge educational and/or technological innovations.
- Promotion: Liaise with faculty and academic departments with the goal of building working relationships and promoting services of the Center.
- Consultation: Provide consultations with faculty and graduate students around pedagogy, teaching, technology, and assessment.
- Writing and Presentation: Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing, and attending conferences and meetings as relevant to the position.
Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes: This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
