The Department of Astrophysical Sciences seeks a part-time Events and Resource Coordinator. This is a critical position in the support
of our workshops, conferences, and seminars. Our events showcase the department's achievements and scientific objectives and the Events Coordinator will be the go to person for all events within the department.

This position is expected to work approximately 50% time/18 hours per week with some additional time required for event coverage. It is desired that the Events Coordinator will have regularly scheduled office hours, preferably 5 days a week in the afternoon.
The Events Coordinator will work with the event host to ensure the smooth execution of the event including: promotion, participant requirements, refreshments, and space and media logistics within the stipulated budget. The coordinator will establish relationships with vendors who provide high quality, cost effective services. The individual in this role will also be expected to maintain event records in an organized manner.
In addition to events, this role will provide oversight of the overall organization and presentation of departmental common spaces and event supplies. The coordinator will work with the Academic Program Administrator to provide needed resources for classes and lectures and will be expected to maintain the Department's web-based schedule and update event postings on the web. The individual in this role will also share responsibilities providing general information in the front office.
This position requires a bachelor's degree or at least 5 years event planning experience preferably in an academic setting. The ideal candidate should have some experience with A/V equipment and be comfortable in using web-based applications for event promotion and scheduling. Additional web-design and/or photographic skills are a plus.
This is a part-time position with afternoon hours preferred. Some over-time, weekend, and evening hours maybe required to provide event coverage.
