The Department of Medicine/Division of Infectious Diseases seeks a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow in the laboratory of J. David Beckham, M.D. The Beckham lab is funded by Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, and the NIH and broadly studies flavivirus infections in the nervous system including West Nile virus and Zika virus. Currently, the laboratory focuses on Zika virus RNA and host protein interactions, Zika virus RNA structure and function, the immune response to Zika virus in a pregnant mouse model of vertical transmission, and the role of synuclein expression in the inhibition of virus infections in the central nervous system.
This is a full time position located at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, CO. Work performed in this role will define the innate and acquired immune responses to Zika virus infection in a mouse model and complete studies that examine viral RNA-host interactions at the cellular level. The qualified applicant will have a PhD, M.D. or MD/PhD with expertise in the fields of immunology, molecular cloning, and/or next generation sequencing.
- PhD degree in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology or equivalent discipline.
- Established laboratory experience with flow cytometry, molecular virology, or next generation sequencing technology is required.
- 1-2 years of animal work experience, virology experience, experience in biocontainment laboratory work.
