Job Summary: The Dining Service Department for Skidmore College invites applications for a full-time, regular position as The Assistant Supervisor: Culinary, Retail Operations. This position reports to the Supervisor of Retail Operations and performs opening, closing, and daily operational duties. Adheres to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Skidmore College and UPSEU. Provides direct supervision and training to approximately 12 fulltime employees and 45 student employees. Implements inventory and ordering controls, establishes and monitors culinary standards for all of Retail, maintains cash controls for multiple locations, executes catered events, provides excellent customer service, meets financial goals, and completes any special projects as assigned. Follows through with food preparation to ensure timeliness of all meals and sanitation and safety standards are exceeded

Minimum Qualifications: Associate Degree in Hospitality Management or Culinary or Hotel restaurant Management or Business with three (3) years of experience in food service operations and a minimum of two (2) years of foodservice management experience
High school Diploma with five (5) years' experience in foodservice operations with a minimum of three (3) years of food management experience in a high volume food service operation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • College/ University Food Service Management experience preferred

  • Serv-Safe, HACCP certification required within 6 months of employment

  • Anti-harassment workshop attendance required within 6 months of employment

  • Must understand importance of excellent customer service and cost controls

  • Experience in managing catered events
