Responsibilities

The primary focus of this position is to manage the student employment program within Oglesby Union Guest Services and to manage daily operations and student setup crews in the Oglesby Union, Student Services Building, and Askew Student Life Center.
Management of student employment w/in Oglesby Union Guest Services to include (not limited to): evaluating potential candidates, conducting interviews, planning/facilitating training, conducting meetings with student staff to provide performance appraisals and discuss progression toward learning outcomes, developing content for staff meetings and newsletters, and creating staff schedules. Work with OPS student employee coordinator to complete hiring process.
Management of daily operations and tasks completed by student employees including lost and found procedures, information desk operations, and furniture and audio-visual setup and teardown in event spaces throughout Oglesby Union, Student Services Building, and Askew Student Life Center. Review daily setup information and work with Reservations & Public Functions Coordinators to resolve any potential issues/conflicts with space usage in a timely manner.
Serve as a backup to the Reservations Coordinator by processing reservation requests and reviewing event permits during planned time off and periods of heavy usage (i.e. when reservation books open). Assist Operations Coordinator in conducting regular inventory of furniture and equipment. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience related to the duties of this position; or a high school diploma/equivalency and six years of experience related to the duties of this position.
(Note: a combination post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Prior customer service experience.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Experience supervising and training employees.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Ability to utilize problem solving skills.
Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
Experience with the principles and practices of event planning and ability to coordinate, organize and evaluate meetings and/or events.
Ability to utilize conflict resolution skills.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Ability to work after hours and on weekend to meet the University's needs.

Preferred

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations. Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting.
