The salary range for this classification is $4,372 to $9,683 per month. Starting salary may be set as high as $8,355 per month based on education, skills and experience.
University Relations and Communications
Full-time temporary position to July 31, 2018 with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
The Drupal Programmer, under general direction of the Associate Vice President of University Relations and Development, and in collaboration with the University Relations and Communications Web Team and University Web Council, will provide website and CMS development, design and maintenance that supports the marketing, business, and infrastructure needs of CSULB. The Drupal Programmer will play a leadership role in the development, design and maintenance of clean, consistent, responsive, intuitive, and user-centered websites that are in line with the vision and mission of the Web Migration Project. The main functions of this position are user consultation, site administration, and development.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of Drupal, CMS, usability studies, accessibility, and user centered design principles. Proven ability to build and design responsive websites using Drupal CMS, HTML/HTML5, Java Script/jQuery, CSS/CSS3. Proven ability to develop for, implement and configure, maintain, and use CMS (especially Drupal and Wordpress). Proven ability to build custom web features for websites and CMS, with modules, plug-ins, and libraries using modern programming languages, practices, and patterns, including PHP, MySQL, and XML/XSLT. Proven ability to develop custom themes for CMS, evaluate, select, install, and configure modules for Drupal, and apply responsive web design techniques for desktop computers, tablets, and mobile devices. Ability to work in an environment using established standards, practices, and methodologies, including version control, issue queues, support ticket systems, quality reviews, and project management. Familiarity with advanced web design tools such as SASS/Compass, Bootstrap, and grid systems, and familiarity with several hosting environments for web and database solutions. Commitment to continually learn new design trends and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and serve as a liaison for the department. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural/multi-ethnic environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to apply consultative skills to assess user needs and provide appropriate support. Ability to maintain materials, inventory, and technical references and administer facility and system security practices. Ability to identify, develop, and coordinate plans for use of site resources and to define site procedures for ongoing administration and maintenance. Ability to organize and plan and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to assist others in completing work assignments including the ability to provide basic work direction and training.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, Communications, or related technical field and two years of relevant work experience required.
