Summary of Duties
Teaches introductory courses in mathematics, elementary math education, and statistics, as assigned. Maintains a positive and productive classroom environment. Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials as necessary. Evaluates student performance using appropriate testing and grading procedures. Provides service to the department, college, and university by serving on committees and accepting other service appointments. Attends meetings and maintains regular office hours.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an appropriate degree in a related field to the coursework being taught. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited university with a PhD or master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Mathematics Education (with a strong mathematics background). Demonstrated successful teaching at the college or university level is required.

Knowledge of the principles and methodology of subject of subject matter and course content.

Skills in effective instructional strategies and techniques.

Effective interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Ability to supervise others, including students and employees.

Ability to manage, motivate, and evaluate students.

Ability to develop curriculum and design courses.

Ability to communicate (written and verbal) with a variety of students, faculty, and others effectively.

Working Conditions

Responsibilities will include teaching 15 hours of mathematics courses per semester (Fall and Spring).
