Summary of Duties
The Utah Valley University Department of Behavioral Science invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor - Family Studies (tenure-track). The successful candidate will teach an average of 12 credit hours each semester. Develops an active research agenda, involving students resulting in presentation and publication. Serves on committees and other opportunities for the program, department, college, university, and the greater community.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Family Science or related field (preferred), LMFT (preferred), ABD or doctoral candidate considered.
  • Teaching and research strengths should complement current departmental needs and strengthen the rigor and quality of the Family Studies program.
  • Ability to articulate a diverse/multicultural perspective required

Knowledge required to teach Marriage and Family Therapy, Family Dynamics, Family Theories, Family Financial and Resource Management, Family Policy, or other FAMS classes.

Evidence of internship supervision, field mentoring with interns and community partners, community family life education presentations, and/or program leadership.

Evidence of online course design and teaching.

Excellence in teaching as demonstrated through effective instructional strategies and techniques in the classroom.

Effective interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a willingness to serve on committees.

Ability to maintain scholastic currency, preferably evidenced by publications, presentations, and the promise of future scholarly productivity.

Ability to articulate a diverse/multicultural perspective required.
