General Summary:

Provide support services to international students in the Intensive English program, including student placement and advising, data collection and documentation of service practices, coordination of complaint procedures, and new student orientation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and implement ESL-student-specific orientation and semester-long support materials for ESL students, including face-to-face presentations and online materials; ensure materials and procedures are documented and in compliance with accreditation regulations

Assist with recruitment of new ESL students, including updating Web information regarding the Intensive English program

Coordinate the development and implementation of student satisfaction data and reporting according to program policies and accreditation regulations

Coordinate the development and implementation of student complaint and feedback procedures

Receive and document initial student complaints

Coordinate student activities each semester

Oversee day-to-day functioning of the International Student Resource Center and its GA staff

Teach one or more ESL classes during the fall and winter semesters, as workload permits, as determined by the ESL Director

Assist with advising new students of their placement in the ESL program based on proficiency test results during peak testing cycles

Assist with advising continuing students of their progress, registration, advancement and completion of ESL during peak registration cycles

Perform related Departmental duties, as required. Qualifications:
Completion of a Master's degree in TESOL or a closely related field is required.

Three years IEP and / or EAP ESL teaching experience is required.

Experience in IEP and / or EAP ESL policies and procedures.

Experience with ESL student advising/counseling.

Cross-cultural communication skills and ability to communicate using modified English are necessary.

Knowledge of U.S. immigration (SEVIS) regulations for F-1 and J-1 visa-holding students.

Overseas teaching experience is desirable.

Experience learning another world language.

Additional qualifications specific to area of assignment may be desirable.
