Network Systems Engineer, Education Technology Consortium #603161

Northern Arizona University’s Education Technology Consortium is seeking a Network Systems Engineer. This position will establish a networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting and enforcing system standards, along with design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment. Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization. Securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access. Capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within the ETC data center. Maintain and support ETC internal operations and Consortium Members LAN/WAN environment with particular emphasis on security and network performance. Daily maintenance and problem resolution including IOS patches, firmware upgrades and routine hardware configuration. Coordinate planning, installation, management and ongoing support of Cisco and Open Source VOIP/IPTV systems. Assist in designing/upgrading ETC internal and member networks with VLANs or internal/external routing protocols. Assist team members in day to day maintenance and support, handling user issues by phone and email, participate in 24×7 on-call rotation and other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years’ experience in network administration or, formal technical training (two years) and six years’ experience in network administration. Or 8-years of progressively responsible network administration experience, or any equivalent combination or experience, training and/or education.  Ability of lift, carry, and move all components of PC workstations, servers, network equipment, peripherals, and other ancillary equipment, along with ability to pull cable and climb ladders.

Annual Salary: Commensurate with experience.
