Degree and Area of Specialization:
For Counselor or Social Worker Title: Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or other related mental health field
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Required: Minimum of two years' experience in a mental health setting with a focus on serving clients of color.
Strongly preferred experiences of the candidate include:
1) Experience serving the mental health needs of underrepresented and underserved students particularly students of color;
2) Experience in developing campus-wide programs that focus on serving students of color;
3) Experience in an interdisciplinary college mental health treatment setting;
4) Experience in brief intervention, mental health crisis assessment, and group therapy;
5) Experience in consultation and collaboration with campus and community partners and provision of campus-based services/outreach;
6) Experience participating in multidisciplinary teams including medical providers and academic faculty/staff;
7) Experience with electronic health record systems;
8) Knowledge of state and federal legal and ethical confidentiality requirements;
9) Evidence of being self-motivated and self-directed;
10) Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with persons of diverse socio-economic, racial/ethnic, national origin, and LGBTQ identities;
11) Supervision of trainees; and
12) Interest in Behavioral Health consultation to Medical Services providers.
License or certificate:
Licensed or license eligible in Wisconsin as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or National Certified Counselor strongly preferred.
If not currently licensed, Wisconsin license required within one year of hire.

The mental health provider, under the supervision of Mental Health Services Co-Director or Associate Director at UHS, will provide clinical services and campus-based programming to underrepresented student groups, particularly students of color. This provider will offer assistance in the development, implementation, and evaluation of services for underrepresented students in an integrated treatment facility. In addition to direct mental health service, this provider will develop collaborative consultation relationships with community partners that serve underrepresented populations, especially those that serve students of color.
Please note: Start date will be no earlier than the Anticipated Start Date noted, but may be later. Salary posted is the minimum. Experience will be considered. This vacancy is being announced simultaneously with PVL#90505. Having two position vacancy listings allows University Health Services to consider candidates with psychologist, counselor and social work credentials for this position.This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
