Job Summary:

Serve as primary administrator and assistant to the directors of two Nelson Institute research centers: The Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment (SAGE) and the Center for Climatic Research (CCR). Each center has complex and unique interdisciplinary research programs and unique administrative functions with about 50 staff in each center and annual funding levels between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000.

Under general supervision of the center directors, this position carries primary responsibility for administrative support and performs a variety of paraprofessional functions and assures compliance with University and other applicable State and Federal regulations. Act as lead worker and subject matter expert for student workers and University Service Associate 1; prioritize and assign work. This position provides comprehensive administrative support, coordinates fiscal activities for the centers, and provides support for activities such as workshops or speakers series. This position is critical to the effective functioning of two independent centers located in separate facilities.

Position requires extensive coordination with the division-level research administrators in the Nelson Institute's Director's Office. For this position, a strong customer service focus with good interpersonal skills and attention to detail is needed. Very good organizational abilities for synthesizing, sorting and evaluating information are needed. A thorough attention to accuracy with an ability to prioritize is also needed to serve in this functional capacity. The person must be able to handle several projects and deadlines at one time.

Knowledge of university business services (purchasing, accounting) is also a must. Must be able to work well as part of a team with a willingness to participate with other members of the research administration team and the flexibility to work in multiple locations on campus (split time between two different buildings). Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required.



Schedule Comment:

Schedule will be 40 hr/wk with hours split between two offices that house research centers in the Nelson Institute.
