The Department of Chemistry at the University of Virginia invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to perform research in the area of synthetic organic chemistry. This is a one-year appointment; however, the appointment may be renewed for an additional two one-year terms, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
Completion of a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or a related discipline is required by the appointment start date. In addition, successful candidates will have at least 3 years of experience in synthetic methods development or total synthesis. Candidates must also have effective oral and written communications skills and possess a proven ability to design novel scientific investigations and interpret their results, as well as the ability to draft manuscripts and publish in high quality scientific journals. Candidates will be expected to provide a leadership role in the laboratory and to assist with training of both graduate and undergraduate students.
