Clinical Director, Counseling Center

Department Summary: As part of the Wellness Center, the BSU Counseling Center offers counseling services to students experiencing adjustment and psychological difficulties and to support the BSU community to help a diverse student population achieve academic and personal success. The Counseling Center enhances students' emotional, social and intellectual development, providing consultation, program development and education for students, staff and faculty. The Center provides preventive mental health outreach programs for all of the University in the belief that concerns can be addressed before they become a problem for the individual or the community.

Position Summary: This is a high visibility position which serves as the emissary of the BSU Counseling Center campus-wide. Provides clinical counseling supervision to the counseling staff. Oversees and provides individual and group counseling services for students. Oversees and assists with program development and training services of the Counseling Center. Consults with students, faculty, staff and community representatives on issues pertaining to student development and emotional/behavioral, health and wellbeing.

Essential Duties: 1. Ensures clinical practice in accordance with Massachusetts Health Laws. 2. Overall management of the clinical staff, providing services to the students and participation in the campus community. This position will be responsible for directing the daily operations of the University Counseling Center as an integrated unit within the Wellness Center. 3. Assists in and oversees the selection, training, supervision, consultation, professional development, and evaluation of clinical staff assigned to the area. Provides leadership for the clinical staff in their development and conducts yearly evaluations of the clinical staff. 4. Provides individual crisis services and interventions for university students in need. Conducts assessments, crisis/triage assessments and referrals for mental health counseling. Provides individual and group counseling. 5. Coordinates, consults and creates clinical collaborations with outside referral resources (hospitals, day programs, state organizations, private providers, other universities and agencies, etc.), to support continuation of care of clients. 6. Actively participates on the Care Team, Core Team, crises or threat assessment team regarding students of concern, as directed by the Vice President for Student Affairs. 7. Serves as a resource to BSU faculty, and staff. 8. Supports the involvement of counseling staff in on-campus activities, which promote student development and emotional/behavioral, health and wellbeing through outreach, prevention and educational workshops. 9. Responsible for maintaining the Counseling Center's policy and procedures manual. Monitors the Counseling Center's electronic clinical database and helps to coordinate routine maintenance of the clinical records. 10. Responsible for the development and writing of the Counseling center portion of the Annual Report. Supports the development and implementation of Counseling Center's vision and goals. 11. Plans and implements assessment efforts that inform data driven decision making for the programs, services and activities within the scope of this position. 12. Develops and implements intentional programs, services and activities within the scope of this position that will meet the unique needs of all student populations. 13. Utilizes diversity and social justice practices to promote student success as it relates to the responsibilities outlined for this position. 14. Works collaboratively with Senior Director to address areas of prioritized need and ensure streamlined practices that support students seeking health and/or counseling care at the Wellness Center. 15. Participates as appropriate on college committees, conducts research, and maintains responsible level of professional involvement. 16. Coordinates work schedule with the Assistant Director to guarantee (Monday- Friday, non-holiday) coverage by either the Clinical Director or Assistant Clinical Director of Counseling. 17. Participates in/coordinates after hour call coverage when the department is closed (including but not limited to nights, weekends, holidays, break periods and during weather cancellations). 18. Comes to campus outside of regular business hours following extraordinary traumatic events.   19. Availability to be on-call a minimum of one weekend a month

Required Qualifications: 1. Currently licensed as a mental health professional (LICSW, LMHC, or licensed psychologist) in Massachusetts. 2. Minimum of a Master's in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. Must have had a supervised internship, supervised field placement or equivalent as part of the requirement for degree, which included clinical assessment, counseling or crisis intervention 3. Minimum of 5 years previous experience as a staff member in clinical setting, in which at least 1 year should be in an administrative supervisory capacity. 4. Minimum of 3 year in an administrative capacity including supervision and evaluation of multiple full-time employees (clinical counselors).

Preferred Qualifications: 1. Experience in a college or university counseling center. 2. Doctoral degree preferred. 3. Experience with Titanium Scheduling software.

Salary Range: $85,000 to $90,000
