Required Qualifications:
-Knowledge of basic compensation practices and principles.
-Knowledge of federal and state laws/regulations governing compensation and classification.
-Knowledge of compensation methodologies and best practices.
-Skill in oral and written communication sufficient to clearly convey compensation and classification information.
-Skill in data analysis and preparing analytical reports.
-Skill in preparing and conducting training.
-Skill in interpreting and explaining compensation data.
-Ability to use spreadsheets, word processing, database and presentation software

Preferred Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field
-Possess CCP or PHR/SPHR
-Experience in compensation in higher education or state agency.
-Experience with an ERP system similar to SAP.
-Experience with an applicant tracking system similar to PeopleAdmin.

Job Description:
This position will be responsible for providing staff classification and compensation services in the Texas State University Human Resources Office.

This is a permanent, full-time position with complete benefits package including:

    Job Duties:
    -Provide advice and counsel to management on a broad range of classification and compensation issues and decisions.
    -Research, develop, analyze, review, assess, write, recommend, communicate, and monitor for compliance with policies, procedures, and practices.
    -Create reports and identify trends.
    -Serve on and provide support to various university and external permanent and ad hoc committees, task forces, and teams.
    -Conduct pay plan maintenance activities.
    -Draft, maintain, and update job specifications/descriptions.
    -Ensure appropriate FLSA and EEO status for staff positions.
    -Analyze, create, examine, evaluate, review and maintain organizational structure changes and reporting in SAP/HR.
    -Complete job classification and reclassification audits/analyses on new and existing positions.
    -Train university employees on classification/compensation policies and procedures.
    -Provide customer service and answer questions.
    -Conduct and complete salary surveys.
    -Develop, maintain, and recommend pay plan structure adjustments.
    -Perform other related duties as assigned
