The Student Account Services Specialist designs, implements and assesses the processes for processing, reporting, auditing and assessing of student satisfaction for student account and Title IV credit balances and refunds. Reporting to the Associate Director for Student Account Services, the Specialist provides the highest level of customer service, while complying with all federal and state laws, regulations and guidance and University policies. The Specialists is responsible for business process development, implementation, reporting and student satisfaction assessment for leaves of absence, CENCOEX and other special payment populations. Working with the Director of Student Financial Services Systems, the Specialist proposes, implements and maintains University systems that fully support the efficient and accurate processing of refunds, leaves of absence and the processing of payments for special populations.
The Student Account Services Specialist works collaboratively with key partners around the University to fully support students and the required business processes related to his/her job functions. Partners include University Health and Counseling, Registrar, Housing, Finance, We Care and the Office of Global Services. The Student Account Services Specialist researches and resolves escalated issues as the main point of contact for the student account representatives and the Enrollment Management Contact Center related to student refunds, leaves of absence, and special payment populations in including CENCOEX. The Student Account Services Specialist shares responsibility for front-desk management and staffing with leaders in Student Financial Services.
The Student Account Services Specialist works to support the overall goals and mission of Student Financial Services and assists with ad hoc projects and requests of Student Financial Services leadership. The Specialist represents the University at public events, including but not limited to, open houses, admitted student days, and new student orientations. Working with the Director of Student Accounts and the Dean of Student Financial Services, the Specialist proposes and implements services that support overall University student recruitment and retention goals. The Specialist assists in hiring, training and managing staff and student resources to meet departmental goals.
During peak processing periods, the Student Account Services Specialist performs all tasks, including payment processing and customer service, to support timely and accurate resolution of students' accounts.
Bachelor’s degree required.
A minimum of 3-5 years related work experience required, with Student Accounts/Bursar/Business Office experience preferred.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a positive approach and exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to effectively communicate with various constituents, i.e. faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, company officials and government personnel.
Excellent interpersonal, time management, and communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership ability and proven history of motivation to achieve shared goals.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required; experience with Banner, PowerFAIDS, Liquid Office, CashNet preferred.
Excellent oral/written communications and analytical skills and effective prioritization skills.
Creative thinking skills and solutions-oriented.
Knowledge of Spanish preferred.
Demonstrated success working with a diverse student population.
