ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE

Department: Security Studies and Criminal Justice

Salary: Commensurate

Job Summary Tenure-Track, 9 Month Appointment

2017-2018 Academic Year

Duties
Teach courses in the corrections area including system and practices, probation and parole, juvenile justice as well as other courses as assigned in conformance with State mandated curriculum requirements. May manage internships and develop advanced criminal justice courses in chosen areas of expertise. Ability to conform to and facilitate an existing high quality established program is essential. Advise criminal justice students and assist in curriculum development. Engage in customary departmental and university service and facilitate communication and cooperation among all members of the Department of Security Studies and Criminal Justice.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Applicants should have education and research interests in above areas and in teaching. Ability to relate well with students, university staff, faculty and with working criminal justice practitioners,

Qualifications Academic:
Ph.D. in Criminal Justice with emphasis in the above areas. Strong preference given to, in the following order: (1) earned Ph.D.; (2) ABD; and (3) major progress towards the Ph.D.

Experience:
Previous significant professional governmental employment as a institutionalized-correction, probation, parole, or very closely related duties preferred. Formal training in education and or teaching methodology or verifiable prior high quality teaching experience.
