Hofstra University’s Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs seeks to fill an anticipated opening for a Coordinator for Events and Communications.

Description: Coordinate communications for the Office of the Provost to promote broad and consistent outreach and responses to the campus community. Draft and edit correspondence to the University community. Maintain Office of the Provost webpages
 

Coordinate and manage execution of programming and events sponsored by the Office of the Provost. Assist with major University events (i.e. Commencements and Convocation, special events).

Manage Academic Affairs recruitment processes. Develop workflow procedures to standardize process and create efficiencies. Coordinate with Human Resources and academic departments. Oversee position approval process. Manage posting of ads. Coordinate candidate travel with hosting departments

 

 

Provide administrative support for student academic issues and appeals. Support Provost Committee of Scholarship Review. Serve as primary point of contact for student and parent issues. Liaise with campus offices (Academic Records, Student Accounts, deans’ offices, departments, etc.). Support special initiatives of the Senior Vice Provost and the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Academic Affairs.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and previous experience crafting communications and planning events, preferably in an academic setting. Excellent writing skills required and web publishing/design experience preferred. Detail-oriented. Ability to handle sensitive information with absolute discretion. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and delegate as appropriate. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a variety of constituents.
