Position Summary: The Department of English, Philosophy, and World Languages at A-State invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track position in Spanish at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2017.
The successful candidate will be a generalist with a demonstrated interest and experience teaching Spanish language courses and a wide array of upper-division courses. Candidates with experience teaching Spanish for the Professions, Translation and Interpretation, and/or Introduction to Hispanic Literature are especially encouraged to apply.
Tenure-track faculty are expected to maintain an active research agenda, as well as be involved in creative activity, service, and professional development in the best interest of the students and community at large.
- Teach courses at the undergraduate level in Spanish and as well as other courses depending on the expertise and interests of the successful candidate and the needs of the department.
- Contribute to ongoing curriculum review and expansion
- Advise students
- Perform scholarly activities consistent with rank
- Perform institutional, community, and professional service
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the department
General Days/Hours: Monday-Friday; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Some evenings possible.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Spanish by the time of the appointment. (A.B.D. considered). Candidates should provide evidence of scholarly achievement or significant scholarly potential and evidence of teaching excellence. Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
