Job Description Summary:

It is the academic mission of the George Washington University's School of Business (GWSB) to be a pre-eminent business school recognized for scholarly research, teaching excellence, innovative curricula and focused on the responsible management of organizations in the global environment. In support of this mission, the F.David Fowler Career Center is searching for a Sr. Career Consultant, Undergraduate Marketing. This individual is a key contributor to providing high quality customer service to meet the career management needs of GWSB students.

The position reports to the Director of Undergraduate Career Management. This position does not have direct reports; but may supervise student workers.

The primary focus for this position is creating, developing, and maintaining relationships with marketing, sport, event & hospitality, advertising or PR focused students in order to be viewed as a confidante in their job search.

The key responsibilities include:

Utilizes coaching techniques, conducts mock interviews (behavioral and technical).

Creates and delivers classroom presentations on marketing, sport, event & hospitality, advertising or PR industry related topics.

Gathers, tracks and maintains detailed critical records of student employment activities.

Stays current in market practices and trends; provides relevant insight to students seeking a marketing, sport, event & hospitality, advertising or PR career.

Develops marketing-specific curriculum to enhance student education and market-readiness.

Serves as liaison with marketing professors.

Participates in Career Center events including, but not limited to Panels, Career Fairs, Company Site visits in DC and NYC.

Partners with students to create a step by step customized action plan to address career search, identify career goals and target companies.

Provides critical feedback to students on their resumes and cover letters.

Enjoys working with a high performing team as well as independently in achieving results.

Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Prefer relevant experience in the marketing, sport, event & hospitality, advertising or PR industry.

Proficiency in MS Office.

Strategic thinker with strong organizational and time management skills.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Strong presentation skills.

A self-starter that thrives in an entrepreneurial environment.

Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Experience working with students, faculty, staff or business professionals in a team environment.

Project management experience.
