Posting Information: Western Carolina University invites applications for a fixed term full-time Lecturer in French, beginning August 2015. This position is on a one-year contract. Applicants should have a Master's degree in French or closely related field with a minimum of two years experience teaching French at the college level and near-native proficiency in both English and French. Preference will be given to those with a proven record of advancing oral proficiency through communicative methodologies, growing enrollment in French programs, and promoting the study of francophone cultures beyond Europe. The starting salary for the position is fixed at $33,000 and the teaching load will be four courses per semester, excluding summer. Candidate will also be expected to organize and help judge the French events at our annual High School Foreign Language Contest. Summer teaching, both on-campus and through faculty-led travel courses, is also possible, contingent upon sufficient enrollment. The campus is located in the picturesque Cullowhee valley between the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge mountains, 50 miles west of Asheville, North Carolina, and 150 miles northwest of Atlanta.
