Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream - Engineering Business
Requisition Title: Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream - Engineering Business - 1700316
The Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto invites applications for an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream appointment in the field of Engineering Business. The incumbent will be appointed to the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2017.
The Faculty welcomes applications from individuals with demonstrated excellence in business pedagogy and curriculum development, preferably in an engineering context. Applicants must have experience teaching within a business program and have an MBA degree (or a PhD in a business program) and preferably a degree in engineering. It would also be preferable that the candidate have experience working as an engineer. The successful candidate will be expected to teach some core courses in the Engineering Business Minor at the University of Toronto that may include: 1) Fundamentals of Accounting and Finance, 2) Markets and Competitive Strategies, and/or 3) People Management and Organizational Behavior. In addition, a second role would be to maintain curriculum oversight of the Business Minor itself, adjusting the course content in consultation with instructors in each of the core courses, and ensuring that they keep up with both modern business and engineering practice and understanding. The Engineering Business Minor is a mixture of business practice and understanding, in the engineering context.
Evidence of excellence in teaching and a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices will be demonstrated through strong teaching evaluations, letters of reference from referees of high standing endorsing excellent teaching and commitment to teaching innovation, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
