Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree in education (e.g. curriculum and instruction, policy, psychology, administration, counseling) is required. Master's degree in education is preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Five or more years of experience in Graduate Medical Education (GME) is preferred. Familiarity with accrediting organizations such as Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) is desirable. Formal recognition of qualifications through the Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education (TAGME) National Board for Certification is preferred. The candidate will be expected to work toward TAGME certification. Candidates should have strong communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to medical education.
The Instructional Program Manager plays a major role in leading the educational activities of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Graduate and Undergraduate Medical Education levels. This position will require an individual with special expertise and experience to create curricula and evaluation methods and guide faculty in the incorporation of modern educational methods.
The Instructional Program Manager reports to the Associate Chair for Education in providing administrative leadership, strategic planning, and oversight of the residency program, anesthesiology fellowships, and medical student education. In addition, the Instructional Program Manager works closely and collaboratively with the Residency Program Director, Fellowship Directors, and Director of Anesthesiology Clerkships. The Instructional Program Manager functions as a liaison between the Associate Chair for Education, Residency Program Director, residents/fellows/medical students, the GME Office and other programs.
