Office of the University Registrar
Responsible for operations of the graduation section in the Office of the Registrar under the direction of the section's leadership. Makes decisions regarding graduation eligibility; participates in counseling & guidance activities involved with the implementation of procedures regarding University graduation requirements.
Reviews student transcripts & Academic Requirement Reports to make determinations regarding compliance with graduation requirements and eligibility based upon maintenance of an effective working knowledge of degree requirements for the awarding of diplomas. Implements University rules and regulations regarding graduation decisions. Searches for duplicate credit hours within the reports to uncover errors and discrepancies, and performs GPA calculations. Uses professional judgment to determine degree-applicable hours on a case-by-case basis depending on student's major, specific courses completed, and other considerations.
Performs communication and counseling activities to facilitate student, faculty, staff, and public knowledge of University procedures and policies in order to enhance graduation and retention rates. Counsels and provides guidance to students, sharing professional knowledge and advice regarding graduation eligibility decisions and University policies and procedures relating to the implementation of graduation requirements.
Maintains effective communication (written & verbal) with students, staff, faculty, and the public in matters relating to graduation requirements and University policy. Serves as liaison between the Office of the Registrar and other University officials regarding graduation clearance efforts for undergraduate and graduate degrees. Maintains constant interaction with academic departments in order to to solve student issues or problems regarding their graduation eligibility.
Assists in developing, implementing, and evaluating policies and procedures for the graduation section. Develops programs to increase operational efficiency through various media. Makes recommendations for change in processes.
Assists the Graduation Event Coordinator in the planning and execution of University commencement ceremonies in the position's assigned area. Represents the University during commencement exercises, organizing student flow and ensuring compliance with commencement policies and procedures.
A Bachelor's degree and one year of experience, or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to five years. Experience should be relevant and related to the responsibilities of the job. Qualified candidates will possess the ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments simultaneously. Experience counseling and/or providing expertise and advice is required. Qualified candidates will have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or comparable software.

A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of experience related to the responsibilities of the job are preferred. Candidates should have the ability to review, analyze, formulate, and organize data and information and follow through on assignments. Applicants should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and should possess a strong sense of initiative while managing multiple responsibilities concurrently. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Anticipated Salary Range
At or around $30,000.00
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5.
