The College of Medicine is guided by a legislative mandate to "educate and develop exemplary physicians who practice patient-centered health care, discover and advance knowledge, and are responsive to community needs, especially through service to elder, rural, minority, and underserved populations". The College utilizes a "distributed" model whereby students spend their first 2 years in Tallahassee and the last 2 years in one of six regional campuses around the state. The Department of Geriatrics, one of only 5 in the College of Medicine, is unique in being among the few Geriatrics departments nationally.

Responsibilities

The Florida State University College of Medicine is seeking applicants for a Full Time Faculty position at the Assistant and/or Associate Rank commensurate with experience. This position will be a clinician educator and will join 11 full time and 60 part time community-based faculty in the Department of Geriatrics. May be eligible to hold rank and tenure in the department.
The position will comprise approximately 50% clinical time and may include care in outpatient settings as well as in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. Some of these sites may qualify as federally designated physician shortage areas. Teaching will involve medical students based in Tallahassee throughout their 4 years of training and will take place in a variety of settings encompassing small and large group forums as well as with standardized patients. Faculty will also teach physician assistant students and medical residents providing care in affiliated hospital programs. Participation in relevant research initiatives is encouraged, but not required. Specific contributions to clinical care, education and research will be based on the candidate's interests and experience.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD degree with Board certification in either Family Medicine or Internal Medicine in addition to Board certification or eligibility in Geriatrics.
Florida medical license or eligibility for Florida licensure.
Relevant academic/professional experience and excellent communication and collaboration skills.
