Responsibilities

This entry level position will advise and assist faculty and staff in pre-award and post-award non-financial sponsored research, instruction and public service activities from public sources. Such activities associated with this position include, but are not limited to: proposal preparation, review, submission and tracking; negotiating basic agreements, contracts and awards with external sponsors; project programmatic close-out; preparing official communications; and other basic level special projects as assigned.
Proposal preparation, review, submission and tracking of sponsored research, instruction and public service activities from public sources. Negotiate basic agreements by serving as the primary liaison with funding/sponsoring agencies. Review sub-recipient documents and determine contract/vendor relationship. Accept award and coordinate post-award non-financial activities. Maintain regular contact with principal investigators, deans, chairs, departmental administrators and funding agency officials regarding interpretation and application of contract and grant documents, policies and procedures relative thereto.
Coordinate project programmatic close-outs. Prepare official communications to faculty and sponsors. Input data including proposal workflow and award acceptance, agency proposal submission and post award non-financial requests. Set up project files.
Assist the senior staff with basic level special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience; or high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to six years. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
Experience with attention to detail, meeting project deadlines, and working independently.
Ability to comprehend and interpret state, federal, and sponsoring agencies rules, regulations, policies, and laws regarding sponsored research.
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or equivalent software.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment and to interact with people at all levels diplomatically, tactfully, and professionally.

Preferred

Knowledge of or experience in contracting and contract negotiations (e.g., FAR clauses, federal contracting, SBIRs and STTRs).

Anticipated Salary Range

$40,000 - $44,000 annually.

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Soft Money Funded Position

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.

Schedule

If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5.
