Position Summary:

Provide technical support (via systems, applications or processes) and assistance to departments, offices, and vendors with respect to the RowanCard, utilizing established policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Install, maintain, repair, and monitor access control and point of sale readers and other related hardware. Provide analysis, user support, and assist with development and documentation of the operational/business procedures for the RowanCard program. Assist Director in daily operations of office and serve as secondary liaison between divisions and departments throughout all campuses.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Undertake problem resolution of a technical nature by working with unit Director, University staff, and vendor representatives by performing work of considerable difficulty using established policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Utilize request, problem and issue tracking software; Coordinate and communicate with appropriate departments to ensure hardware and programming issues are addressed in a timely manner and deadlines are adhered to.
  • Assist Director in overseeing processes to ensure accuracy of information being passed through all systems. Monitor Blackboard and RS2 reader statuses.
  • Coordinate with third party vendors for proper reader installs; travel to offsite locations for servicing Blackboard and RS2 devices at Camden, CMSRU, SOM campuses, and Rowan off-campus merchants.
  • Setup department computers to use the Blackboard and/or RS2 systems; manage in-house network and specialty cabling.
  • Coordinate with internal and external contractors working on extensive reader installs (cabling, door hardware, software setup).
  • Coordinate with NSS for server management, labeling, IP addresses and to troubleshoot network issues; coordinate with EIS staff in resolving software issues related to Blackboard and RS2 and coordinate with Public Safety to ensure accurate parking gate functionality and appropriate access control monitoring, and troubleshoot any software issues.
  • Assist Director in daily operations of the Card Office, including providing front line customer service, enforcing Card Services policies and procedures and supervising student or part time staff.
  • Conduct training for internal departments and external merchants using the RS2 and Blackboard Access System or Blackboard Transaction and Reporting System.
  • Attend project meetings or coordination meetings as necessary.


Some evening, weekend and holiday work is required for this position.

Qualifications (Required):

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • One (1) year of experience in one or combination of the following: data processing, installation and maintenance of application programs, technical support, and/or design and preparation of programs.

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in one or combination of the following: data processing, installation and maintenance of application programs, technical support, and/or design and preparation of programs.
  • Note: A Master's degree may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience at this level.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with POS and Access Control systems, operations and databases; preferably Blackboard and RS2 systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to multitask and perform at a high productivity level with minimal errors.
  • Able to work independently and, as necessary, solve problems with minimal supervision.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Additional Experience (Preferred):

  • A+ certification
  • Experience with relational databases and reporting systems.
  • Experience with ID Works operations and database.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner System.
  • Experience/knowledge of marketing applications and processes.
  • The ability to learn new specified technical skills and the ability to improve upon same.
