Position Summary

The successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating operational activities, as assigned, in the Pilot Plant, Chemical Analysis, or Microbiology Group of the MSU Bioeconomy Institute's Lansing-based corporate services. The Operations Coordinator will perform fermentation set-up, monitoring, sampling, cleaning and other operational duties in support of the MSU Bioeconomy Institute's corporate services. The Operations Coordinator will also prepare operational reports, maintain unit records, and enter and analyze data to facilitate information sharing with clients and customers.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired from specialized training such as that acquired in two to three years of college, technical, vocational, trade or business school with coursework in a field related to the area of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in performing tasks related to the area of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Schedule will include weekends and late night shifts.

Duties associated with this position involve lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling.

Duties associated with this position involve work in noisy (at or above 85 decibles) areas, and risks that have been identified by Environmental Heath and Safety, such as exposure to phenols and acids.
