Student Services Assistant I
This position will serve as a Sexual Assault Program Advocate; provides short-term crisis intervention and advocacy services to survivors of sexual assault; serves as a consultant to campus partners and community members working with sexual assault victims; provides direct service to clients by providing in-person crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, advocacy services and follow-up contact; provides Back up Coverage to the Crisis Line and Medical Advocacy Services two days per week.Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Social Science, Education, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive experience providing advocacy and counseling to survivors of sexual assault; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired Qualifications
More than two years of experience providing advocacy and crisis intervention services to survivors of sexual assault; experience providing sexual assault advocacy services in a university or college setting; experience with building and maintaining relationships with a multi-disciplinary team; experience facilitating training and presentations for large groups, experience with data collection and reporting; understanding of sexual victimization and natural responses to trauma; experience with crisis intervention training; previous experience working with sexual assault survivors; demonstrated competency and expertise in outreach and service provision with diverse populations; excellent written, verbal and presentation skills; ability to demonstrate empathy skills, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills; ability to be honest and maintain professional boundaries; ability to organize and prioritize; possess the capacity to function as a team player. This position works closely with the Advocacy Coordinator, Program Therapists, Crisis Counselor and community partners. This position requires the ability to provide in-person crisis intervention and advocacy services at Sparrow Hospital Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Unit within a 20-minute travel time period as needed. Criminal Justice Advocacy requires some off site duties at local courts and law enforcement offices. This position requires access to a reliable form of transportation.Required Application Materials
