The Smeal College of Business (University Park, PA) is seeking an Honor and Integrity Director. The Director will play a significant leadership role in continuing to develop and implement the Smeal College's honor and integrity efforts.

Responsibilities
  1. Marketing and Communications - strategy and execution
    • Engage students, faculty, and staff and identify opportunities for H&I including student conferences and case competitions
    • Elevate discussion of H&I at Smeal: lead and coordinate Smeal programs for participation and awareness Programs: Integrity Week, HC Signing, outside speakers, use of social media
    • Act as spokesperson for Smeal Honor and Integrity to broader PSU community and beyond PSU. Elevate discussion within Smeal and beyond
    • Coordinate and direct Website strategy, development, updates, and maintenance
    • Collaborate with Marketing and Public Relations to develop and implement strategy and materials (Web, posters, glossies, media mentions etc.) assure fit with Smeal strategy and marketing
    • Collaborate with recruiters, alumni, and other outside stakeholders
    • Work with development to explore development opportunities related to H&I.
  2. Training & Orientation - coordinate and monitor creation and delivery by constituents
    • New faculty/instructors
    • New staff
    • MBAs(responsibilities as students and teachers)
    • EMBAs
    • Undergrads: freshmen, transfer, Commonwealth change of assignment students, DUS
    • Regular student, faculty and staff briefings.

  3. Policy
    • Align H&I execution for consistency (where appropriate) across populations
    • Monitor and improve execution
    • Work with associate dean for undergraduate education and other administrators to maintain consistency with University G9 and other relevant policies
    • Lead SRTE monitoring and improvement re: AI questions.
  4. Leadership
    • Manage the AI Graduate Assistant and determine if this role continues
    • Lead Honor Committee meetings
    • Primary liaison to AI Committee, Board of Visitors and other review boards
    • Work with undergraduate dean to monitor and improve execution of H&I processes, including the disclosure notice process, both form and timeliness
    • Maintain records associated with H&I program performance
    • Serve on University Committee for Honor Code development (if applicable)
    • Identify and manage student Honor Code ambassadors
    • Represent Honor & Integrity Initiatives to student organizations - work with them on programming, initiatives, etc.
    • Search out and communicate best practices with faculty, administration
    • Conduct benchmarking of other b-schools, universities, businesses
    • Professional development for field research - conferences, publications
    • Define and lead College's role in Partners in Business Ethics Conference
    • Conduct biennial Spring Climate Survey - or design other mechanisms for climate monitoring
    • Consider and lead major projects such as:
      • Overcoming unwillingness to report
      • Moving from awareness to advocacy
      • Engaging the broader community, sharing Smeal experiences and successes.
  5. Level of Effort
    • Position likely would be ½ time
    • Other activities might include teaching or undergraduate/MBA program support.

  1. Response rate and improvements on Climate Survey
  2. # Orientation ,Training, and Culture Building sessions conducted with constituents
  3. Participation levels in University, College committees
  4. # students, faculty, staff who sign the Honor Code
  5. Google analytics analysis of Honor & Integrity website activity
  6. “Spot check” anecdotal references to honor & integrity
  7. # of positive recruiter and alumni references
  8. # of references in external publications - PR rating.
Qualifications
  • Ability to lead a team of colleagues of varying organizational levels and roles to give input and execute on initiatives. Multistakeholder communication is key.
  • Project and team management and execution skills, including both delegated and self-initiated projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with specific reference to explaining delicate material and influencing positive behavior. Innovative marketing communication skills are an asset.
  • Coordination and communication skills among many internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective and efficient training design, development, and delivery skills. (Would work with others.)
  • Event planning and management skills. (Would work with others.)
  • Supervisory skills for managing graduate assistant students.
  • Irreproachable regard for discretion and confidentiality given the nature of potential work content.
  • Passion for and possibly background in organizational ethics in an academic or other workforce environment.
  • This role is not a compliance role, rather a role of organizational culture influence; thus experience in compliance is not a primary qualification.
  • Have teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Undergraduate advising experience also a plus. Ideally, would meet qualifications for Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (Ph.D. qualified).
