Job Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Director of the Office of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid System Specialist supports the functional and operational maintenance needs of the Office of Financial Aid.  The position supports the outbound and inbound data file processing, participates in the development, testing, and implementation of new business processes and system upgrades, documents business processes, and is responsible functional support for a number of financial aid programs.



Responsibilities Include


Supports the inbound and outbound communication data transmissions, including but not limited to ISIRs, Entrance and Exit Counseling, MPNs, Pell and Direct Loan origination and disbursement files; Performs batch operations in support of the daily, weekly, and monthly operations of the Office of Financial Aid; Writes queries and ad hoc reports for data requests and in support of end user workflow; Assists the Director and Associate Director of Financial Aid in special projects related to improving overall efficiencies and delivery of information and services; Maintain documentation of office business processes; Assist in the testing of quarterly system updates; Assist in the reconciliation of federal and state aid programs; Participate in staff training; Available for evening and weekend coverage as required; Performs other duties as assigned by the Director or his/her designee.






Bachelors’ degree from an accredited institution; Two years’ experience working in higher education or a comparable setting, preferably in a financial aid office; Working knowledge of Micosoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel; Knowledge and prior experience with the financial aid module of an ERP system; Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft preferred; Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures; Excellent communication, organizational, and problem solving skills; Ability to work independently; He/she must be goal-oriented, energetic, and capable of working effectively with staff and students.
