Duties of Position:  

Creates, plans, and administers the fall, spring and summer cultural and social co-curricular programs of lectures, concerts, dances, film, art exhibits, coffeehouses, drama productions and other programs of interest to the College and community, which is approximately 150 programs per year.  This includes participation in selection, contractual negotiation and execution, promotion, organization, payment, supervision and evaluation of these events.

 

Collaborates with students, faculty, and staff in developing programs on current topics and issues, programs related to curriculum, and multicultural programming.

 

Conducts Title IX investigations and makes recommendations the Dean of Students Affairs

 

Shares the approval and administration of the budget and expenditures of all student activity fees in consultation with appropriate representatives of the student body and the Dean of Student Affairs.  This responsibility includes the annual tri-month budgeting process, weekly approval of all student activity-related expenditures.

 

Administers the student activities cost center budget and supervises full-time and part-time staff members.

 

Provides leadership for and advises the Student Government, ensures participation by students on Governance Committees, and administers its budget.

 

Oversees the supervision of the Campus Activities Board and the Leadership Challenge program.

 

Oversees the development of and approves the procedures for all student clubs and organizations and supervises and approves their activities, travel and expenditures.

 

Develops and coordinates fall, spring and summer activity listing, content for fall and spring cultural arts brochures, and other publicity publications, content for monthly student emails, an annual policy and procedure manual, and an annual report.

 

Provides leadership for the student publications areas which includes the College newspaper Harbinger and literary and visual arts magazine Point of View, and administers their budgets.  This includes the supervision of faculty members serving as advisors to these areas.

 

Oversees all aspects of student elections.

 

Supervises the FM operation of the student radio station, WHCM, and its budget.  This includes supervision of staff members serving as advisors to this area.

 

 

Supervises the speech team activities and administers its budget.  This includes providing leadership and administrative support for a faculty member serving as an advisor to this area.

 

Supervises the Harper Theater/DRAMA productions and administers its budget.  This includes providing leadership and administrative support for a faculty member serving as an advisor to this area.

 

Supervises Pom/Dance Team activities and administers their budgets.  This includes providing leadership and administrative support for a faculty member serving as an advisor to these areas.

 

Actively supports the College initiatives focused on the recruitment, retention, academic success, and graduation of students of diverse and under-represented backgrounds and works to enhance the quality of under-represented students’ college experience through programming and leadership experiences.

 

Develops college practices and spaces which support the institutional commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

 

Directs, researches, and implements a diverse program of activities and events that meet the broad interests and needs of the campus student body, including multicultural student programs which provide an opportunity for students to explore cultural identity in a safe and inclusive environment.

 

Serves as the Building A administrator.

 

Serves on Shared Governance Committee(s) by administrative position.

 

Administers and supervises the College Student Center, which includes staff, capital equipment, budget and policies for all areas including the student organization offices.

 

Supervises the Target Vision TV display monitor system, including site location, equipment acquisition, budget and programming, and established priorities.

 

Supervises Student Involvement posting areas, supervises poster manufacture, and approves usage of bulletin boards, two want ad cases, and ride board.

 

Administers the Student Legal Services program and its budget, including supervision of a lawyer employed part-time for this area.

 

Coordinates the development of and supervises the procedures, and assists in setting the priorities for the use of the leased vehicles designed for student club and org use.

 

Administers various student awards programs, including tuition rebates and an Awards Night program.

 

Develops and administers the College activity calendar.

 

Provides leadership for the strategic planning and evaluation of all Student Involvement programs and services.

 

Responsible for student affairs functions in the absence of the Dean.

 

Responsible for other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:  Masters Degree in college student personnel, higher education leadership or related area.

Experience Requirements:  Minimum five years of progressively more responsible experience in coordinating and advising student involvement or multicultural affairs, developing and implementing cultural programs, and/or leading student government or leadership programs, preferably at the community college level.  Evidence of work experience incorporating a global perspective and demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity in higher education.  Demonstrated intercultural knowledge and competence.
