Position Information: The Information Security Operations Manager oversees core information security functions for the campus enterprise. This includes the establishment of formal guidelines for secure technologies and architectures to include networks, endpoints, application development and cloud initiatives. Defines and manages security systems portfolio to include administration and sustainment of IDS, IPS, firewalls and other security monitoring and detection appliances. Directs information security analyst team performing incident monitoring, detection, response, remediation, and forensics investigations. Subject matter expert supporting identity and access management practices.
Minimum Requirements: Excellent critical thinking, persuasion / negotiation, mentoring, leadership / management and problem solving abilities.
Expert knowledge of data encryption technologies.
Excellent verbal and written communication, quantitative and analytical skills.
Advanced knowledge of IT security.
Advanced knowledge of the IT security function.
Broad knowledge of other areas of IT.
Demonstrated knowledge of secure hardware, software and network design techniques.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of department processes and procedures.
Human Resources policies and procedures. relating to management responsibilities.
Demonstrated skill in managing technical staff.
Knowledge of basic firewall administration (e.g. iptables).
Understanding of security standards, such as NIST, ISO 27000, ITIL.
Proficiency in authentication protocols and mechanisms (Active Directory, OpenLDAP, CAS, RADIUS, Shibboleth, etc.)
Familiarity with intrustion detection and analysis systems (FireEye, Bro, OSSEC, etc.)
Fluent in shell scripting and development (Perl, Bash, etc.)
Familiarity with server log processing, manipulation and analysis with tools such as ElasticSearch, Kibana and Logstash.
