Engineer & HVAC Supervisor
Under the direction of Assistant Director of Operations and Maintenance, in conjunction with the other mechanical trades supervisors, responsible for the day to day operations of Main Campus Engineering and HVAC Shops serving all buildings on Main, Ambler and Dental School Campuses. Provides oversight of building and roving engineers and HVAC Mechanics. Oversight includes Engineer and HVAC mechanic supervision and task assignment, technical assistance and training technicians to provide mechanical asset oversight, troubleshooting and repair for the institution. Provide other support including providing technical expertise to cross-department or University-wide projects; consulting with others as needed to coordinate the planning and execution of projects, and the delivery of a service to other departments within the University. Adheres to procedures and standards pertinent to area of responsibility. Perform other duties as assigned.Required Education & Experience: Philadelphia Class A Engineer License or CFC certification desired. At least five years institutional mechanical trades supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills & Abilities: * Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC, pumps, air handlers, VAV, CAV, building automation and all related systems common to university buildings and labs. * Knowledge of air handling systems as a whole and ability to troubleshoot and accurately diagnose existing and potential problems. * Understanding of ANSI and HVAC codes. * Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population. * Knowledge of project management and the ability to establish priorities. *Working knowledge of Closed loop chilled or hot water systems and refrigeration principles. * Scopes, estimates and executes small mechanical and refrigeration projects and repairs. * Tracks hourly employee hours and reports time on jobs, paid time off and approves time in electronic payroll system. * Approves time off and insures absent shifts are covered. * Manages workflow through an automated work order system. * Procures supplies and services through an electronic procurement system. * Approves invoices for completed work for payment. * Provides periodic after-hours on-call management support and is available for after-hours emergencies. ** This position requires a background check ** ** This position requires a Valid, current Driver's License ** Compliance Statement: In the performance of their functions as detailed in the position description employees have an obligation to avoid ethical, legal, financial and other conflicts of interest to ensure that their actions and outside activities do not conflict with their primary employment responsibilities at the institution.
