The Central Carolina Community College 2015-2019 Strategic Plan declare "Learning First" as the primary institutional goal. All faculty and staff are empowered as educators, committed to responsibility for the learning process. In alignment with this plan, Program Directors are a critical part of the college's leadership charged to help maximize student learning and access by engaging students as full partners in their success.  The primary purpose of the Department Chair/Program Director, in addition to teaching, is the administration of all the programs in the department. This is accomplished through continuous evaluation and revision of course objectives, course outlines, course competencies, course descriptions, teaching strategies, in the specific curriculum to ascertain that they are appropriate and relevant as well as the management of personnel and resources.    The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program Director serves to develop and direct all aspects of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The Program Director promotes the success of Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs among college administrators, faculty/staff, students, the health care community and the local community. Central Carolina is currently seeking approval for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program by the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The inaugural Director will play a vital role to establish the DMS program at CCCC and seek initial DMS program accreditation.   

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.  Must meet SACS-COC credential guidelines.
  • Have coursework in instructional methodologies, evaluation and assessment.
  • Proficiency in curriculum development.
  • Two years full-time experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field. Full-time is defined as 35 hours per week.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Teaching experience, especially at the post-secondary level, is preferred.
