Career Consultant Part-time
I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION
Job Description Summary:
It is the academic mission of the George Washington University’s School of Business (GWSB) to be a preeminent business school recognized for scholarly research, teaching excellence, innovative curricula and focused on the responsible management of organizations in the global environment. In support of this mission, the F. David Fowler Career Center is searching for a Graduate Career Consultant. This individual is a key contributor to providing high quality career coaching and career management education to graduate students within the School of Business
The position reports to the Director, Graduate Career Management. This position does not have direct reports but may schedule, train and supervise temporary staff or student workers.
Specific Responsibilities include:
Individual Coaching: Provide career counseling to GWSB graduate students and graduate alumni who are focusing their career in marketing. Assess career goals and interests, review resumes and provide guidance on strengthening and positioning it towards a career in marketing, conduct mock interviews, provide expertise in self-branding both on and offline as well as how to use networking as part of a job search.
Program Development: Assist in the design, delivery and management of career and professional development programs, seminars and sessions (online and in-person) to educate students on our career management methodology and career pathing options for graduate degree holders.
Documentation and Reporting: Assist with the collection and reporting of statistics on graduate student employment outcomes.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
A Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and 2 years of relevant experience. Degree requirements may be substituted for an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:
Professional experience with industry expertise in at least one of the following areas: Consulting, Financial Services, International Business, International Development, Technology, Energy, Government, Non Profit and Executive Outplacement and function specific areas (Consulting, Financial Services, Marketing, Operations, Human Capital, Accounting etc.) Previous career and/or executive level business coaching highly desired. Familiarity with international cultures highly desired. Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and customer service skills.
