Job Description Summary:

The George Washington University, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Tropical Medicine, is seeking an Administrative Project Manager to help lead the NIH Martin Delaney Collaboratory: BELIEVE: Bench to Bed Enhanced Lymphocyte Infusions to Engineer Viral Eradication (NIH Grant: 1UM1AI26617).

Along with the PI, Program Manager, the Executive Committee (EC), and with the assistance of the Management and Operations Core staff, the Administrative Project Manager will help manage the Collaboratory, oversee its annual operating budget of $5.7M, and coordinate the activities of the 18 participating institutions, community organizations and medical clinics in four countries (the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Brazil).

The GW Martin Delaney Collaboratory is part of a national network of 6 collaboratories located throughout the U.S. that is supported by the National Institutes of Health; the Collaboratory program supports international HIV cure research networks and encourages collaborative efforts to address the multifaceted puzzle of curing HIV. The BELIEVE Collaboratory will apply advances in immunotherapy to produce a novel HIV cure strategy.

Responsibilities Include:
•Oversees the daily management and coordination of the BELIEVE Collaboratory including programming, budgeting, communications (manage BELIEVE website and newsletter), ongoing strategic planning, and weekly, monthly and annual meetings; serve as BELIEVE Management and Operations liaison to the Community Advisory Board team;
•Serves as the primary point of contact and facilitates connectivity between BELIEVE leadership and the various national and international sites; serves on the Executive Committee, chairs the Steering Committee and ad hoc calls, and serves as the primary point of contact between the BELIEVE Collaboratory, the NIH Collaboratory Program Staff, and the other Martin Delaney Collaboratories. Domestic or international travel may be required, including attendance at conferences.;
•Prepares and submits documents for IRB review and approval; facilitates finalization of non-disclosure agreements and material transfer agreements; respond to NIH reporting requirements;
•Works with the MITM Fiscal Manager to oversee the allocation and expenditures of the BELIEVE Collaboratory budget of $5.7M annually including sub contracts;
•Supervises Management and Operations staff, including undergraduate and graduate student staff;
•Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 7 years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Public Health, Science, or Health Science, plus previous work or research experience in HIV/AIDS is preferred.
Familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office software and internet resources
Excellent verbal written and communication skills
Strong strategic and organizational skills
Previous experience with NIH grant management
Supervisory experience
Language skills in Spanish and Portuguese desirable
