The Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for the position of Director of the Women's Resources Center (WRC). The WRC is responsible for improving the campus climate for women and developing and implementing programs that address women's issues and gender-related concerns. This position is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible Academic Professional position within the Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relations (OIIR) which includes the Asian American Cultural Center, Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center, La Casa Cultural Latina, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Resource Center, Diversity and Social Justice Education, Native American House, and International Education Programs.

The successful candidate will be working on a campus with academically talented and diverse student population, including 19 percent international students, 12 percent Asian American students, 5 percent African American students, and 6 percent Hispanic/Latino students.

Supervision: Direct supervision over all operations at the Women's Resources Center. Responsible for administering programming and services offered by the Center that advance the status of women and the advocacy of and participation in institutional gender equity efforts. Responsible for hiring, supervising, and evaluating full-time academic professional staff, graduate student staff and undergraduate student workers. Supervises two assistant directors and one administrative assistant. Responsible for budget planning and oversight; delegation of tasks, conflict management, planning and goal setting, and program assessment.

Campus-Community Outreach: The Director must work collaboratively with other OIIR centers. Engage in substantive and significant collaboration with the Title IX office and other University offices (e.g. The Counseling Center, University of Illinois Police Department, Office of the Dean of Students) to develop and implement training, policies, and practices specific to the prevention of sexual harassment, discrimination and sexual violence on campus. Serve as a resource person for students, faculty, staff and the community. Represent WRC/OIIR on campus-wide standing and ad-hoc committees.

Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct regular program evaluations and coordinate Center objectives with the Division of Student Affairs and University goals. Provide leadership in reviewing the mission and goals of WRC and creating a Center strategic plan consistent with OIIR's Strategic Plan. Coordinate the production of reports for internal and external units.

Programming: Develop collaborative working partnerships, specifically with experts in the areas of gender, multicultural, identity, and diversity knowledge, practice, and policy. Through these partnerships, establish and design innovative educational initiatives to impact women's inclusion and advancement in the larger university community. Collaborate with other Student Affairs and campus units in the development of services and programs beneficial to women students, staff and faculty and integrating the Center's educational and cultural activities with those provided by other campus units.

Student Support: Hire, supervise, and evaluate student interns and recruit student volunteers for center-community outreach. Provide advocacy and support for women's concerns; provide information, referral, counsel and advice to individuals seeking assistance. Some evenings and weekends are required as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree, preferably in counseling, college student personnel, higher education administration, social work or related field
  • Five years' professional experience in student affairs, higher education administration, or community organization directly related to gender and women's inclusion and advocacy
  • Experience supervising professional staff members
  • Experience coordinating cultural, social, educational, and/or social justice programs
  • Thorough knowledge of compliance regulations such as Title IX, Clery Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other federal and state regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience designing and implementing programs focusing on the intersectionality of sexism and other forms of social identity
  • Professional experience advising and creating leadership development opportunities for students and/or student organizations
  • Experience in facility management and/or facility development
  • Experience in fundraising and working with alumni and constituents
  • Experience developing community and public engagement programs, and public speaking
  • Experience in marketing and communications (e.g., electronic newsletters, websites, social media)


Salary and Appointment Status: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time (100%), benefits-eligible academic professional position appointed on a 12-month basis. Proposed starting date is July 3, 2017.
