The primary responsibilities of the position is to conduct independent research developing and using novel sensitive and selective sensors for the detection and identification of volatile compounds emitted by plants subjected to biotic and abiotic stress. In conjunction with engineers, the PD researcher will develop a plant system to collect and analyze patterns of VOC response from plants subjected to stress conditions, and correlate response patterns to expected underlying plant physiological defense mechanisms. The PD researcher will be part of a team and will be expected to communicate with engineers and plant /microbial scientists on a regular basis.
