STAFF WRITER, STEWARDSHIP COMMUNICATIONS

Job description

Duties: Reporting to the Director for Stewardship Communications, Development and Alumni Relations Marketing and Communications, write correspondence for the Vice President, Development and Alumni Relations, including (but not limited to) letters acknowledging financial gifts, condolences, congratulations, and personal greetings. Prepare similar correspondence for the President of the University, as needed. Prepare stewardship reports for undergraduate scholarships. Copyedit and proofread work of other staff members. Provide writing and project management support, as assigned, on any online or print stewardship publications. Be fully knowledgeable of the letter tracking and scholarship reporting databases, and able to execute all related tasks, including assigning and processing correspondence, updating records, maintaining data integrity, delivering correspondence, etc. as a contributing member of the Stewardship Communications team. Work closely with the Associate Director, Acknowledgments and Associate Director, Scholarship Reporting, as well as other members of the Stewardship Communications team and the DAR Marketing and Communications department. Frequent contact with leadership and other staff in Development and Alumni Relations and in the President's office.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university and at least 2-3 years of professional writing experience. Excellent copyediting, research, and organizational skills; computer literacy, including superior word-processing skills and knowledge of database and spreadsheet programs. Self-motivated and self-directed with ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Good time management, with the ability to meet deadlines and to accommodate unanticipated requests, is essential. Ability to staff events as needed.
