The Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Program Officer to serve as a key staff member for a research program. The Program Officer will facilitate and coordinate planning and operational activities in support of the program's mission. Duties combine administrative and program outreach along with promotion of the program. This position will collaborate across disciplines and functional areas by building relationships between researchers and stakeholders, as well as coordinate workshops and training. This position will also participate in the program budgeting and accounting processes to ensure cost-effective execution, and assist in primary research and data collection.
Qualified candidates must have Master's degree in biomedical science or a related field and at least 4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
This position is restricted and contingent on the continuation of funding.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a specific area of research and mastery of program information with the ability to advise team appropriately in area of expertise.
2. Ability to plan complex information and provide specialized advice and to manage the activities of the team or program.
3. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication in daily interactions. Proven ability to clearly articulate specific information in area of research.
4. Demonstrate ability to collect, analyze, and interpret information.
