Associate Director for HR Systems

The Associate Director for HR Systems is a hands-on leader for a team of application developers responsible for human resource and/or personnel related systems. The Associate Director will provide direction and management to a team of application developers; review the work assigned to staff during all phases of project work; perform application development tasks to assist staff in completion of assigned work; coordinate the planning of end user training for new functionality; lead, develop and facilitate the implementation of quality assurance requirements for complex enterprise information systems and web applications; coordinate with community business leaders and C&C leadership as necessary to establish best practices and procedures to meet organizational SLAs.
Ability to understand the process involved to adapt, integrate, and modify existing programs or vendor-supplied products for use within a large and complex technical environment.
Extensive or advanced knowledge of subject area sufficient for strategic planning, technology assessment and direction.
Verbal and written communication, quantitative abilities, analytical technical applications programming systems management.
Requires thorough knowledge of applications programming function, organizational effectiveness and health and safety (ergonomics, stress).
Requires thorough knowledge relating to the planning, and coordinating of business programming applications activities.
Experienced in leading change management activities and managing their impact across multiple units or departments.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical topics to large groups with potentially varied levels of technical sophistication.
Thorough knowledge of technical concepts and basic operating principles of data communications, computer hardware, vendor IT products, and software.
Critical thinking, persuasion/negotiation, conflict resolution, mentoring and staff development, leadership/management, problem solving, and human resource policies and procedures relating to management responsibilities.
Experience in the management of ongoing technology infrastructure acquisition and expansion, to include the identification and integration of suitable emerging technologies.
Extensive experience managing technical staff.
Current knowledge of the University of California, Riverside community environment.
Current knowledge of the Computing & Communications operational environment.
